The treatment is performed in the operating room under general anesthesia and takes between 1 to 2 hours in total. Important blood vessels, lymph and nerve pathways are spared to ensure a quick and uncomplicated recovery.
The surgery itself involves a longitudinal incision in the mucosa of the vagina, followed by a suture technique to tighten the muscle behind it and narrow the inner diameter of the vagina. The mucosa is then adjusted to the inner diameter and sutured closed.
The surgery time is approximately 60 minutes. However, as with any surgery, there is some risk of complications such as infection, post-operative bleeding or loss of sensation.
